About the Event
On Monday, August 19, spend the day at Chautauqua Institution with your YWCA Community. Attend inspiring lectures throughout the day, come together for lunch and late afternoon tapas with opportunity to connect with women from across the Western NY and surrounding areas. The week’s theme Exploring Race and Culture in America brings outstanding speakers and important conversation. Please join us!
Program highlights include:
10:45am: Wynton Marsalis, managing and artistic director, Jazz at Lincoln Center World-renowned trumpeter and composer will convey his hopes, concerns, and insights about contemporary culture and society through a historically informed lens.
Noon: Lunch Catered by Andriaccios at the Presbyterian House next to the amp.
2:00pm: Debby Irving, author of Waking Up White shares her sometimes cringe- worthy struggle to understand racism and racial tensions. With discussion questions in each chapter, this book is ideal for book clubs -- consider planning a day together at Chautauqua!
Late Afternoon: Tapas at the Chautauqua Women’s Club Wine, light snacks and conversation
