Young Women Choosing Action
Young Women Choosing Action is an intersectional, culturally responsive, trauma-informed leadership program designed with the unique challenges and opportunities of low-income young women and young women of color, ages 13–19, in mind. Young Women Choosing Action will enable young women to practice skills and dispositions, which can lead to new habits of decision making rooted in an active choice rather than a reactive behavior.
Young Women Choosing Action is a new program at YWCA Jamestown. It was created by YWCA, USA in partnership with Centene Corporation. This program was piloted by three other YWCA organizations throughout the United States. The focus of this program is youth voice and leadership skills. Participants will put together a Social Justice/ Advocacy project from planning stages to execution of the project. Further information can be found at: https://www.ywca.org/choosing-action.
