YWCA Jamestown hosted over 120 community members at this year’s Women Of Achievement Celebration. Presented by Alliance for NonProfit Resources and UPMC Chautauqua, this year’s event was the largest in its 25 year history. The inspirational dinner and basket raffle took place on August 24, 2023 at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel in Celoron, NY.
The 2023 Women of Achievement Recipients are:
Leigh-Anne Hendrick, Catalyst for Change Award
Sukanya Burman, Power the Future Award
Tamara M. Dickey, Shattered Ceiling Award
Patricia Graves, Impact Award
Annika Spitzer, Rising Star Award
YWCA Jamestown is a non profit organization dedicated to eliminating racism and empowering women. Recipients were nominated by community members as those who embody the mission of the organization in their volunteer and professional roles. Uplifting and inspirational speeches by recipients and nominators left the audience excited to continue to advocate for women, girls and people of color.
“The night motivated us all to create additional opportunities to celebrate and uplift women of Chautauqua County,” said Kristi Ternullo, YWCA CAPP Director and lead for the fundraiser. “I am in awe at the growing list of nominees and Women of Achievement recipients in the community who work for equity and inclusion right here in Jamestown and the surrounding areas.”
One of the most touching moments of the evening is when Tamara Dickey was presented the Shattered Ceiling Award by her daughter Tiara Cromartie. Other memorable moments occurred when Patricia Graves’ nominator Pastor Chloe Smith encouraged all community members to continue to work for justice and equity; and when Sukanya Burman highlighted the need for equity and inclusion in the arts.
YWCA Jamestown would like to thank the sponsors who helped make the event an incredible success. Sponsors include ANR, UPMC Chautauqua, Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Evergreen Health, Family Health Medical Services, Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union, Lane’s Women Health, Jamestown Psychiatric, Water Street Brass, League of Women Voters, M&T Bank, and Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union.
